Butterfly Pea Iced Latte

Our favorite way to start the day is with a beautiful smooth sea of bright blue creaminess latte (or Mermaid Latte) that has a lovely floral earthy taste and it's the perfect caffeine-free alternative. This easy-to-make latte gets its ocean blue color from Suncore Foods® Butterfly Pea Flowers Superbloom - no artificial coloring here. Simply steep the dried flowers in a liquid such as milk, water, or gin, they will naturally turn it blue. You can also make this dairy free blue tea and we recommend you to add a little honey or lemongrass to sweeten it. And, if you want to turn it magically purple, add citrus! A squeeze of lemon of lime will do the magic color-changing trick. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Makes 1 Large Iced Tea Latte

3 tbs Suncore Foods® Butterfly Pea Flowers Superbloom
1 cup boiling water
Ice cubes as per preference (suggested serving, 1 cup)
1-2 tbs maple syrup
¼ cup vanilla oat milk (for best results use creamy oat milk)
1-2 lemon slices


Directions

1. Butterfly Pea Tea - In a container with a spout or one from which you can easily pour liquid, combine Dried Butterfly Pea Flowers and boiling water. Let sit for 15 minutes and using the back of a spoon, gently press down on the flowers in order for them to release more flavour and color.

2. Iced Latte - Strain the Butterfly Pea Tea into a tall glass with ice and discard the flowers. Add maple syrup and vanilla oat milk. Mix well and adjust maple syrup and milk if needed. Add lemon slices and serve immediately
